A solid walnut sideboard creates a clear contrast against light walls and pale flooring. In dining and living spaces, it provides enclosed storage for tableware, glassware, linens, or audio equipment, while the top surface offers space for lamps, ceramics, and books.
Choosing the right format and mounting method directly influences how the room functions in daily use. Considering dimensions, wall mounting, and door mechanisms helps you balance closed storage with available floor space.
Wall-mounted sideboards versus floor-standing storage
Floor-standing sideboards occupy a fixed area on the floor. In contrast, a wall-mounted sideboard keeps the floor area underneath completely clear. This simplifies cleaning and creates a lighter appearance along the wall, particularly in rooms with limited floor space.
The Wall-Mounted Cabinet JN18 uses vertical wall space with dimensions of 80 cm in height, 97.5 cm in width, and 40 cm in depth. The cabinet attaches with a concealed French cleat system that holds the structure securely against the wall without visible corner brackets. The doors are constructed from walnut profiles that form the curved sides, while the interior provides two solid walnut shelves on each side in front of a black back panel.
Low profiles and sliding doors
While a taller wall cabinet offers compact vertical storage, a lower, longer piece creates a horizontal line along the wall. This format works well below window sills, beside lounge seating, or as a base for audio equipment.
The Turntable Cabinet JN26 features a low profile measuring 170 cm in length, 37.5 cm in depth, and 40.5 cm in height. Built in solid walnut with subtle brass details on the sides, it incorporates front sliding doors. The doors slide sideways along the front profile, allowing you to access records and equipment without taking up space out in the room.
Walnut grain and surface care
Walnut is a durable hardwood known for warm tones and distinct grain patterns. The solid timber construction withstands daily use and develops a natural patina over time.
Regular application of oil refreshes the wood surface from normal wear. You can read more about caring for solid timber in our guide to Care and Maintenance.
